First, let me say if you’re a fan of endurance competitions like I am, there was a great one last night in the Big Brother 14 house. I watched the live feeds until the last person fell, and it was one of the more interesting endurance comps yet. Last season had a chance for an epic one with the snow/ski theme where Danielle was fighting for her BB life, but honestly the Big Brother 13 newbies were absolutely horrific at competitions and the girl who slept all day (Kaalia) was Danielle’s biggest rival. Weak.

Last night, aside from Joe and Jenn, everyone competing probably would have dominated the entire BB13 newbies. In addition to the endurance competition, you had a game reset in the middle of the season where alliances had already been formed and people knew where they stood (unlike the first HoH comp where half the people throw it to appear weak). I seen some negative feedback to the producers last night, but honestly I’m thrilled with how they handled it. No eviction, everyone competes, and 4 veterans were placed into the house with 8 newbies who have already had their chance to be star struck. Sure, a veteran may win this year, but I don’t think they’re going to have nearly as easy path as last season. It was probably the best way to introduce veterans into a game with newbies, and I give CBS credit.
What does it all mean though? That’s the big question on everyone’s mind. Will the vets just band together and dominate? Will they keep their alliances they had pre-reset? Here are some thoughts about the game now…

Boogie is going to be a crybaby until he goes home – He was the only coach to vote to keep things the way they are, and he’s pretty much been crying non stop since the twist was revealed. Does he have a reason to be upset? In his mind, yes.. but in reality, no. Boogie was completely convinced Frank was staying last night and Janelle’s team was going to be in chaos. He felt once that happened, he could sleep through the rest of the season and pick up an easy $100k with Frank taking the $500k prize. The reality: Frank was likely being voted out, Boogie was going to left vulnerable, exposed and confused. He may or may not have won the coaches competition to bring someone back, but he still only had a 25-33% chance of that happening (depending on Dan throwing the comp or not). This reset completely saved Boogie’s chance at winning money, but he’ll probably never know that.
The veterans will not align like they did in Big Brother 13 – Because of the way they were introduced into the game, many veterans formed bonds and close alliances with their teams. Dan and Danielle, Britney and Shane, Frank and Boogie are some good examples of that. In addition, by forcing the veterans to play against each other for nearly a month, it created a lot of animosity that likely wouldn’t have been there had they come in as players on day 1. Britney feels Janelle is very sneaky and untrustworthy, Janelle cannot stand Boogie and wants him gone, Boogie is mad at the world, and Dan is still laying under the radar. Right now the closet thing to a veteran alliance is the one they had going pre-reset of Dan/Danielle/Britney/Shane.
Shane and Frank should be thanking the Big Brother gods – Frank is easy, he was gone this week had they went through with the eviction. He got a second life, although like I mentioned above, feels he was safe anyway. Shane on the other hand had a complete trainwreck of an HoH week and likely would have been eliminated shortly after Frank because of it. He managed to upset both remaining teams by completely aiming for Janelle early in the week and then swapping Ashley for Frank at PoV. Frank and Boogie have no trust in him, and Janelle’s team was only playing nice so everyone would stay. There is no doubt he would have been on the block as soon as possible had the week continued like normal.
The floaters will need to be bold or will go home quickly – Jenn, Joe, Ashley and to a lesser extent, Ian have basically been floating through the game and following whatever orders their coaches gave them. This allowed for both Ashley and Jenn especially to play “low person on the totem pole” for their team and sit back watching the Franks and Wil’s be bigger targets. However, now that there are no official teams, and coaches can be voted out at any given week, it’s time for those floating foursome to step up their game and contribute to their alliances. Ian already started by holding on as long as he possibly could, but will Joe, Ashley and Jenn start doing the same?
Big Brother is really pushing the Shane/Danielle showmance on us – Let it go, stop putting people in uncomfortable situations. Shane doesn’t like Danielle, Danielle is in love with Shane, yet Julie is there pushing buttons on the live show asking to rank kisses on national TV. If they’re going to become a couple (they won’t), just let it happen and stop forcing the issue. Showmances are generally boring and annoying (see: Rachel and Brendon).
Finally, things are about to get real in the house – I’ve been basically saying it all above, but last night proved we have a very competitive bunch of HG’s this season, and all bets are off how things will go down from here on out. I was blown away that every single person was still on that wall as long as they all were, even Joe. Say what you will about the season, but they did a pretty solid job of casting a competitive bunch this year.
I don’t like that they added the coaches to the game. We knew that would happen and I don’t think America voted for squat. What happened to the original Big Brother game? I think B.B. stands for Boogie/Britney show this year. Don’t care for either of them. Just like Jeff and Jordan keep coming back (boring). Let’s get rid of the returning Vets and let new people really play the game. The twists could be more creative than adding past players.
I’m losing interest in this show.
She should have put up Boogie and Frank , only one could come off the block and the other gone home for sure. Boogie is trying to recreate another Dr Will and Boogie which will never happen. They also need to get Britney out due to her causing alot of drama amongst the other players. She always twists their words around not to mention that she is a good competition player.

I just don’t know if it’s a matter of how much CBS loves Frank. Maybe it was also they didn’t want to get down to just Shane, and then a bunch of players, who were throwing comps, and a bunch of floaters, who can’t win a comp.
As much as Shanes HOH was totally a wash, as was his Veto win, as was his Big Nominations, and Big Game moves, they also let him play in this weeks HOH. So, they actually gave him a chance as well (even if endurance comps to favor smaller people, with less body mass). And, they also aren’t showing him down talking Danielle, or the “showmance” on the TV, so people who don’t have the live feeds, or BBafterdark, think he’s all puppies and sunshine.
Basically, I think they are favoring the strong players and Coaches, not just Frank.
Watching Julie Chen announce not only the coaches’ twist -we all knew it was coming-, but also the “BB doesn’t want Frank to leave”-twist, I felt reminded of Joe begging pityfully for votes, promising that he’d only be there for 2 more weeks, his children were about to start crying, and that he promised whoever eternal servitude. He knew the TV audience would always see him as a pathetic loser with no backbone.
Except here, it wasn’t a desperate player, but Julie Chen and a whole franchise selling all of its integrity. I understand the need for better ratings, but Julie Chen taking her clothes off and telling America that everyone who keeps watching the show until the end gets to spend one e****c night with her is not the way to go, people just become disgusted with the desperation and loss of integrity, just like I did with Joe.
How could any future player ever feel the urge to “attempt a big move” again, when they have to suspect that Big Brother will bend the rules for “their favorites” to remain in the game, and like what happened here, “reward” Shane for “winning HOH + POV + making a big move + successfully blindsiding Boogie and Frank” by saying all is for nothing, and hence only making his situation in the house much worse by no fault of his own.
BB, a great concept of a game, hast sold out in a last attempt to improve ratings, and they might have just destroyed any future Big Brother for many years. Very sad. I’ll stop watching now.
At first, I didn’t want the Coaches in the game, but now I’m kind of on the fence. As much as it’s not fair to put them in the game at this point, It will give the season a lot more competition. Like so many have said, there are a LOT of floaters, so having some more players will force them into the game.
I do think it was unfair to not vote anyone out, maybe they could have added coaches votes into the vote, and seen how it worked out. Who knows, maybe then Frank would have made it???
I also think there was one really cool part about the twist. I was thinking they were going to be able to choose individually if they joined the game or not, but saying if one hit reset, they all had to play, well, I thought that was pretty cool. I was shocked that Boogie was the one, and only who didn’t want to play.
BTW, was that a kiss I saw Shane give Danielle when he basically mounted her after her win (when she was still in the water)? Seems odd, he’d been acting like he wasn’t too into her, but she’s HOH now, so maybe that will change… just saying…
Leave the Shomance alone and leave the game alone. The players should creat the drama – NOT BB producers!… I am TIRED of VETS! – they had their turn. They have an advantage cause they worked w/ the teams and heard their strategies, etc.- And it was downright Nast that they sent Jodi home the 1st night and that they allowed Shane to nominate ppl for eviction, thereby creating enemies!!! – I am no longer watching BB.. they have been cheating with these *twists* for years! – That being said : I LOVE Shane and I LOVE Daniele… and I love *Shane AND Daniel*

I am mad that they would rig the votes and that they cheated Shane, but I want to watch and see Boogie, Janelle, Frank, Ian, Joe, and Wil get evicted. If one of tem Dan or Brit don’t win I will seriously stop watching though. They did cheat Shane and Frank should be gone this week. Boogie should be leaving at the end of the week, but you know, the show needs to control everything. The thing is there are only four people left in the game that I want to win, the people listed above I do not want to win at all because I don’t like them, and all the others may be likeable, but they are major floaters and don’t deserve to win. I think the whole twist was perfect and gave the show plenty of potential for one amazing season, and the first HOH after the twist was one of the best so far, however, I think the one thing that should have been different is the no eviction aspect. That was completely unfair to HOH shane who had made so many plans on what he would do afterwards. They should have brought coaches back AFTER the eviction, because I don’t think it is exactly fair to take away somebody’s special HOH week from them like that. Shane was completely cheated and they should have at least had eviction. That is my one complaint about the twist, because I like it, but I am not a Frank fan and I am a Shane/Brit/Dan/Danielle fan. Frank should be gone and Shane should be satisfied. and WOW I wrote a lot. I really repeated myself the whole time. Sorry, I know nobody wants to hear me rant, I just wanted to say that Shane was cheated but the twist is great.
Yes leave the show mance alone its boring and doesnt make good tv . Now if the aliangences hold up that will make a good game but i agree the floaters need to come in swinging they all look as if they are twiddle dee and twiddle dum show ur brains and your courage and ur skills otherwise your just taking up space , cant wait to see who ur bringing back
