Typically on reality show I quickly find myself pulled towards the underdog, and it’s probably why I’ve bounced around the house rooting against the power alliance of the week. That being said, for some reason I am having an awful tough time pulling for whatever the hell the current power alliance is. At some point, you have to simply tip your cap to the best players, and in this case it’s Dan and to a lesser extent, Britney. The “alliance” as a whole is a joke, but the head of that alliance (Dan) is very impressive, and I’ve gained a ton of respect in him as a player this season.
Here is how I see it… Once Boogie is gone, there is only a matter of time until Frank and Ashley are evicted due to aligning with Boogie. They made a good effort, and they may take 1-2 out before they go, but the numbers are heavily stacked against them moving forward. They’re sitting ducks unless a few more newbies wake up to what’s happening (unlikely). While I’d like to give the newbies a pass, there is no excuse… here is what they could have learned from:
- Survivor: Fans vs Favorites – Vet won
- Survivor: Redemption Island – Vet won
- Survivor: South Pacific – Vet should have won, talked his way out of it in finals
- Big Brother 13 – Vet won
Four very notable experiments where veterans of their shows played against newbies, and a veteran won in all but one of those seasons. In the 4th, the vet (“Coach”) dominated the season but had the social game of Shane and never owned up to his cutthroat behavior costing him votes.
There is no excuse for Ian, Joe, Shane and Danielle to ride on the backs of the coaches unless they are content with finishing 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. Willie had it right, if the coaches entered the game, the newbies needed to stick together and peg them off one by one. That failed when Frank, Shane and Danielle all became enamored with their coaches. Now, two of the remaining coaches have a very firm grasp of things heading forward, and I don’t see enough independence in any remaining newbie (Frank aside) to turn while they still have numbers.
Because of that, I simply cannot root for any remaining newbie once Frank is out the door. It would take a Willie-style awakening and betrayal of the vets for me to hope one of them wins if things keep moving forward. I mean logically, how can anyone be pulling for Ian, Jenn, Shane, Danielle or Joe at this point?
During the piece where Ian tried to lump himself in with ‘villains’ if there was an all-star season with that theme, it made me realize that’s how he wants to be seen. He’s trying to be sneaky and clever so people will look at him in the ‘evil mastermind’ category, but I simply look at him in the foolish category. Reality show stars who have earned that title typically do so because they’re willing to do whatever it takes to win. Ian is doing whatever he thinks it takes to earn the title, regardless of the prize. Therefor his title as ‘villain’ is nullified to me. You need to try to win in order to obtain such a title. (note to Ian: Dr.Will, Russell Hantz, etc never cried when they had to betray someone to move forward. You’re not a villain, stop trying to pretend you are)
Jenn and Joe are nonfactors in the discussion. I simply cannot root for pure floaters. The only way either will win is if they’re sitting next to each other in the finals.
Danielle and Shane have at least somewhat tried to play the game, but they’re both pretty mediocre at it. Shane really seems like a good guy, but I don’t think he even knew of BB until late May when he was picked to play. He has no experience at the game whatsoever and it shows whenever he’s hung out to dry by his alliance to explain why he put people on the block. If a newbie had to win at this point, I’d want it to be Shane.
Danielle takes a lot of heat in the game for her clinger status, being a compulsive liar, etc so I’m not going to be too hard on her. I’ll simply say that she’s not a very likable character to watch at this point. Hopefully that changes because she seems like a nice person.
That leaves Dan and Britney who have managed to enter the game with huge targets on their backs, stick with the huge targets throughout the season yet continue to avoid threat of nomination by anyone other than those about to walk out the door. Dan sat back and took a beating this week because he didn’t want to give up his source. He has coached his alliance to do what he says and has managed to get the entire house hating each other while he sits back quietly. It’s quite an impressive season for Dan, and for that I’m definitely rooting for him at this point.
At some point when you root for underdogs, you have to realize that the favorite is a favorite for a reason. Dan is showing it, and you have to respect it.
Ian is not an evil mastermind, what he is a douchebag. Boogie shared money with him, protected him early and Ian backstabs and contiues to do so thinking he is clever. That come off as clever, it comes off as being a traitor – and you don’t win for that. Karma is a freight train and Ian is a drunk passed out on the tracks.
The Rat’s game play has been ridiculous from the start. Running around naked. Sorry, Rat, your body isn’t anything anyone wants to see unclothed. Kicking himself in the head. Constantly volunteering to be on slop. Then him thinking some ridiculous flirtmance is going to save him from eviction. Now The Rat is doing this.
To me, he’s been the absolute worst player on the show. His only social game has been to backstab and spy on the man that saved him from being evicted and gave him money.
Yes, he’s even worse than Jenn. As a floater, no one can beat her. A floater’s main goal is for you to forget they’re even there and she’s definitely done that. She fell down once and she was done for. No threat there. She’s the best at what she aimed to be: a floater.
I’m not happy with him getting sucked in to this “quack pack” crap. They are all a bunch of morons in their own ways. Frank and Ash (and possibly Ian if he comes to his senses) to the end!

Yes, I wish Boogie could find some way to stay, but that he’s going is purely his own fault. I saw the way he moved across that slipper surface. He could have easily won HOH and prevented this, but he went for the money instead, and that’s totally on him. His eviction from the house is purely his own fault. He should have gone for the HOH to keep him and Frank safe and put Dan and Shane on the block. That would have cut Blubbering Britney and Danielle off at the knees. His mistake was trusting Britney, Dan, Shane and Danielle, because just a week prior they lied to his face and told him Frank was safe when they were planning to back door him. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. If someone stabs you in the back once and you still trust them it’s your fault when they do it to you all over again.

This season is seriously disappointing. The major players are being kicked out (Janelle and soon to be evicted Boogie). Although they might not be loveable players, they were far more entertaining to watch than others…like Jenn or Ashley. If Frank ends up leaving soon I might stop watching the show altogether. It seems as the years go by, they are picking horrible players. I miss the older seasons.
You are so right! Dan is not getting near enough credit. He’s playing a great game. And even willing to be the sacrificial lamb to protect his alliance members.
I think one of the biggest problems this year has been how many people are so scared to get blood on their hands. Like you pointed out, Ian wants so badly to be seen as a villain, but ends up crying out of guilt. He so could have won the Veto, and just not pulled anyone off the block, that would have been a power move worthy of the title. Instead he throws yet another comp that he should win hands down, and takes the easy way out. If I was part of the “Quack Pack” I would have taken that as super cowardly, and proof that he is NOT willing to do the work to deserve the amount of protection he’s getting. But that’s just me.
And speaking of Ian crying… what is up with the amount of tears this year. You have poor Joe and his blood pressure (I’m not a fan of his, but I feel bad that the stress effects him so), Frank almost breaking down when defending Boogie from the Evil ones upstairs (who they didn’t even hear correctly), Ashley and Brit having a cry fest last night, and now BOOGIE???? BOOGIE???? REALLY? Who knew he could cry? Don’t get me wrong, I think about 85% of what he did around Brit was show, but last night, talking to Frank and Ashley… WHAT IS GOING ON IN THERE???? Like they’ve said a few times in there, It is like the twilight zone!
I can’t wait for tonight. I really want to see Dan pull out the HOH, or at least one of that group, and get Frank out right behind Boogie!!! At minimum get Ashley out so she can’t play with poor Ian’s emotions anymore.

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING… AND Yeah I’m not Dan’s biggest fan, i give him alotta credit.. he’s in cruise control, i dunt necessarily think his a better strategist than Boogie ( he might be) i just think he got to the idiots first and his style fits this cast.. and as for Ian, i couldnt agree more. He’s overrated, rat as opposed to a evil villian.. what a poser.. i didnt mind him winning at first, now i think he doesn’t deserve it. leggo Frank, and if he’s gone, Dan wins no problem..
Personally I want Frank gone because he’s a jerk. He claims to be playing this clean game, but he’s such a pompas jerk, he talks down to and bad about women, he’s a huge bully, and can’t even own that fact, and he calls Shane Dan’s b***h and a C u next tuesday for doing things that he is the most guilty of, being Boogies b***h. Seriously, Boogie should pay him for being his muscle this year. Again, it’s my personal opinion, but I can not stand that arrogant jerk.
I also think there will still be lots of drama with them gone, because it is BB and everyone has to turn on each other at some point. And now they will just have each other to turn on, so it will be actual betrayal, not this ficticious back stabbing that’s been happening lately.
Ian is severely disappointing. I agree he could have easily won that veto (I beat the HG’s from home, and Ian is smarter than me). It’s going to be hilarious if he’s not even mentioned for a heroes vs villains type of season because he fits in neither category.
